See below a statement from Seals & Sealing Network Executive Director, Doug Chiasson:
“Earlier today, Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd co-founder Paul Watson was arrested by authorities in Nuuk, Greenland. For decades, Mr. Watson has made a living by attacking Canadian sealers, including in 2008 when one of his Sea Shepherd vessels came dangerously close to sealers on the ice and collided with a Canadian Coast Guard vessel.
That he was arrested in Greenland, another place where communities have been deeply impacted by Mr. Watson’s anti-sealing campaigns, is a small measure of poetic justice. We hope this marks the last time the public is exposed to Mr. Watson’s destructive agenda, and that people around the world will now listen to and understand the harm he has brought to rural, remote, and Indigenous coastal communities”
