Governance

Project governance and management is provided by the Board of Directors of the Fur Institute of Canada (FIC) and the Sealing Committee (SC), and is undertaken in close collaboration with the Seals and Sealing Network (SSN).   Decision and implementation of the different activities is undertaken in close collaboration with the SSN through different sub-committees (Oil, Fur, Meat, Branding, Indigenous, Circumpolar Crafters Network and Animal/Human Health). These subcommittees form the backbone of Sealing Industry engagement and collaboration in different industry projects.

The Fur Institue of Canada

SSN membership is available at no cost to the sealing industry stakeholders. We encourage SSN members to purchase a membership in the Fur Institute of Canada (FIC).  The FIC is a generous and committed funding partner in the delivery of the current industry projects now underway. By joining FIC, your membership will allow the FIC to sustain their financial contribution to sealing industry programs.

Learn more about FIC’s role and about its ongoing engagement in supporting Canada’s Sealing Industry.

The Sealing Committee is made up of various experts across the full value chain including harvesters, processors, manufacturers, retailers, Indigenous Peoples, federal, provincial and territorial governments and academic partner organizations.
