Total Océan, finally in commercial seal oil production!
“Nearly four years after launching its project to process seal fat into an oil rich in omega-3s, Total Océan has finally begun its commercial operations. Newly installed, the molecular distiller, custom-designed to purify the product intended for the manufacture of capsules, processed the first batch of 1,400 pounds of harp seal fat imported from Newfoundland and Labrador. The operation lasted three weeks, specifies François Gaulin, co-president of the company. “It went well,” he says. Everything went exactly as planned!”
