The 14th Seal Lovers’ Rendez-vous event took place in Îles-de-la-Madeleine, which aims to highlight the importance of seals in the local community. This year’s theme is “The seal at the heart of our lives”. The organizers focused on transmitting traditional knowledge related to seal hunting, and the locals responded positively. However, only 800 grey seals have been hunted since the opening of the hunt this year, which is not enough for the local butchery that could market the meat of 3,000 animals.
Despite this, the 140 guests of the traditional Seal Lovers’ Rendez-vous dinner are preparing to feast on seal meat, which will be featured on the plates.
